शिवराई के सिक्कों का मूल्य सिर्फ धातु का मूल्य नहीं है,
उनका मूल्य वह संस्कृति और धरोहर है जिसका वह प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं।
शिवराई सिक्के ऐतिहासिक सिक्कों की एक श्रृंखला है जो भारत में मराठा साम्राज्य के संस्थापक छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज के शासन के दौरान जारी किए गए थे। इन सिक्कों ने महाराष्ट्र और भारत के इतिहास में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई है।
शिवराई के सिक्के 17 वीं शताब्दी के दौरान ढाले गए थे और तांबे, चांदी और सोने के बने थे। ये सिक्के कई मूल्यों जारी किए गए थे, और प्रत्येक मूल्यवर्ग का एक विशेष डिज़ाइन था । सिक्कों पर देवनागरी लिपि में लिखा जाता था।
शिवराई होन, एक ऐतिहासिक सोने का सिक्का है जो छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज के राज्याभिषेक के अवसर पर जारी किया गया था। इसमें देवनागरी में श्री राजा शिव छत्रपति लिखा हुआ है।
इसका ताम्र संस्करण 19वीं सदी के अंत तक व्यापक प्रचलन में रहा। ये सिक्के गोल आकार के थे। उस समय में शिवराई मुद्रा की कीमत 1/74 से 1/180 तक भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप की मानक इकाई, रुपये का 1/74 से 1/180 तक मूल्य था।
मराठा साम्राज्य के शासन के दौरान शिवराई के सिक्कों का उपयोग व्यापार और वाणिज्य केलिए किया जाता था। इन सिक्कों का व्यापक रूप से महाराष्ट्र में उपयोग किया जाता था। भारत के अन्य हिस्सों में भी इसको मान्यता मिली थी । सिक्कों को मराठा शक्ति और स्वायत्तता का प्रतीक माना जाता है और शिवाजी महाराज और उनकी विरासत का प्रतीक है।
शिवराई के सिक्कों ने मराठा साम्राज्य की अर्थव्यवस्था में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई। इन सिक्कों का इस्तेमाल सैनिकों, सरकारी अधिकारियों और अन्य कर्मियों को वेतन देने के लिए किया जाता था। इन सिक्कों को मराठा साम्राज्य को कर देने के लिए भी किया जाता था। सिक्कों को भुगतान के साधन के रूप में व्यापक रूप से स्वीकार किया गया था और शिवराई को एक विश्वसनीय और मूल्यवान मुद्रा माना जाता था।
आज, शिवराई के सिक्कों को संग्राहकों द्वारा अत्यधिक महत्व दिया जाता है और इसे भारतीय इतिहास का एक दुर्लभ और महत्वपूर्ण प्रतीक माना जाता है। सिक्के साहित्य और कला के विभिन्न कार्यों में भी चित्रित किए गए हैं।
